Investing Your Life into the Lives of Others

What are your strategies for battling against the distractions and discouragement of the world so that you can prosper and be successful?

 

Step 1 - Getting into the Word of God.

• Young guys - what ARE you reading?
• If you’re not reading anything, that means that you’re not reading God’s Word.
• Reading trains your mind to be able to digest significant and meaningful truths, to chew on and wrestle with difficult things.

 

Step 2 - You need to have an older man in your life as an example, model for life.

 

Step 3 - Before you get into a dating relationship, you need to be in a significant and meaningful relationship with God.

• Before God introduces Eve into creation, he establishes a relationship with Adam and gives Adam a mission and purpose - work to do.
• Learn how to grow your relationship with God and how to work hard as a man before you attempt to enter into a relationship with a young woman!

 

Step 4 - What kind of men are you looking to emulate - guys who are successful in a particular skill or in life?

• Will you spend time with a coach/trainer to get better at a particular sport but not spend time with a godly man to get better at life?

 

Older guys - do you have young men that you’re investing in?

• Von - older guys might feel like they’re disqualified because of hidden or unrepentant sin in their lives - get right with God so that you can be used by Him to influence the lives of others who need you!
• Dan - plenty of guys pretending to be men, we need more men who are real, authentic, broken by sin and redeemed and restored by Christ
• Guys - are you in the place where young men can see you living out your faith? Is there time on your calendar to invest in the lives of young men?

 

Young guys - have discernment with the men that you allow to speak into your life.

• Be careful of men who are “successful” at work but not at home
• Be careful of men who are not grounded in the Word of God and can only share from their personal experience and opinions
• Be careful of men who are not still growing in their relationship with God (you can tell that they feel like they’ve “arrived” - God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble)
• Be careful of guys who can only talk about spiritual things from a distance - their “testimony” is limited to a conversation experience when they were 7
