6 in 10 Americans say that money can buy happiness. If you’re in a stressful financial situation, there is a certain minimum that you need to cover your basic needs and additional money can actually make a person feel better about life.
Nick - having money isn’t the issue, having a vision for what to do with your money is the key!
Nick - people live in a world where they feel like they’ve paid for perfection and if they don’t get it, they are frustrated!
The Rare Jewel of Christian Contentment by Jeremiah Burroughs - examine the difference between your expectations and reality

Are You a Winner?
Monday Jan 22, 2024
Monday Jan 22, 2024
Guests: Preston and Parker Panetti
“If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel’s will save it. For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?” Mark 8:34-36
Steps for Success:
- Setting correct goals
- What are your goals for life?
- Are you building your life on the rock…or the sand?
- Evaluating yourself
- Honest and thorough self-assessment…often…is important
- Don’t be afraid of asking other wise individuals in your life for their assessment as well
- Growing your heart, mind, and strength
- This is an ongoing process - once the seed of success is planted, you need to allow it to grow and mature
- Look to grow and mature in all aspects of your life, don’t allow the Enemy to get you to become one-dimensional
- Building strong community
- The Enemy wants you to be isolated and alone - look to build a strong community of wise counsel
- Remember friends are people who tell you the most truth, who seek your best even if it costs them!
- Inviting wise counsel
- Look for constructive criticism, words of wisdom and correction may sting for a minute, but will be sweet in the long-run
- Inviting wise counsel means that you have to ignore unwise counsel - be careful who you let speak into your life
- Discipling younger believers
- Everyone needs a “Paul” to pour truth into them…and a “Timothy” to pour truth into!
- If you don’t have that “Paul” at this moment, at least find a “Timothy” to pour into
- Reaching lost people
- One of the greatest motivations for growth and maturing is having to answer the questions of others
- Don’t be so focused on your own journey that you forget to take others with you!
- Expanding your heart, mind, and strength
- Even Jesus grew in wisdom, stature, and in favor with God and with man (Luke 2:52) - and so should you!
- If you’re not expanding…your probably shrinking

Who Are You Listening To?
Monday Jan 15, 2024
Monday Jan 15, 2024
Guest: Parker Panetti
Different times, places, and cultures have different “heroes” or men who are elevated, appreciated, and valued for a variety of attributes. The Spartans valued warriors, the Athenians valued the intellect - today different people are valued in our culture for things such as wealth and athletic ability. As a young man looking to grow and mature, who are you looking to emulate, to follow, to allow to speak into your life?
While this is a fun and informative conversation and concept to wrestle with, the reality is that Jesus is the only man worthy of our emulation. Scripture says that Jesus is the author and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2), the image of the invisible God, and the firstborn of all creation (Colossians 1:15). This year as you look to grow and mature as a man, consider the model that Jesus is as a servant-leader, as one who was willing to lay down his life for others, as one obedient to the will of his Father. Spend time learning more about Jesus - and as you draw close to Him, He will draw close to you!

Merry Christmas 2023

Monday Dec 25, 2023
Host: Dan Panetti
Chronicles of Narnia - The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by CS Lewis
It’s always winter, but never Christmas…
The Hunger Games - how did President Snow go bad?
God revealed His plan of redemption and restoration in the Garden, immediately following man’s sin - see Genesis 3:15
The Old Testament of Scripture is FILLED with so many prophecies about the coming Messiah so that man wouldn’t miss the incredible gift that God was sending for us - some of the most important of those prophecies are found in the Book of Isaiah in chapters 7, 9, and 53. The prophecy that the Messiah would be born in the “little town of Bethlehem” is found in Micah 5:2.
The genealogy of Jesus, the one born of a virgin in the town of Bethlehem, is found in Matthew 1:1-17. Jesus is a descendent of Abraham, the father of the promised nation of spiritual children, and David, the symbol of the king.
In Matthew 1:3, Jesus is said to be a descendent of “Judah the father of Perez and Zerah by Tamar” - the twins Perez and Zerah are both mentioned in the lineage of Jesus, but for what reason - because Jesus isn’t just coming once, but twice - and both Perez and Zerah give us insight into what we should be looking for - first, one who “burst forth,” the unexpected one from insignificance; the second, bearing the scarlet thread on his body.
Christmas - everything points to Jesus…
Christmas tree - gifts at the bottom - and it points to the heavens…with a STAR on top - reminds me of Numbers 24 - Balaam’s final oracle - verse 17 - I see him, but not now; I behold him, but not near: a star shall come out of Jacob, and a scepter shall rise out of Israel…
O Holy Night, song by Adolphe Adam
O Holy night! The stars are brightly shining
It is the night of the dear Savior's birth
Long lay the world in sin and error pining
'Til He appeared, and the soul felt its worth
A thrill of hope, the weary world rejoices
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn'

Monday Dec 18, 2023
Guests: Bruce and Chris Curran
Above all else, guard your heart, for from it comes the wellspring of life. Proverbs 4:23
You can tell the condition of a marriage by watching/listening to the wife.
Suffering removes shallowness. If you want to go deep with God, you’re going to have to go through difficult times. Tough times produce dependent people - people willing to lean not on their own understanding, but in all their ways they learn to submit to God and trust His goodness and plans - see Proverbs 3:5.
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28 Maybe some of the difficult things you’re going through are going to be used by God for a greater purpose - His purpose - not only in your life, but in the lives of others, to expand the Kingdom of heaven!
Some trust in chariots and some in horses [and some in doctors], but we trust in the name of the Lord our God. Psalm 20:7 Who will you put your trust in - your business, your health, your education, your past accomplishments…or will you put your trust in the One who created the heavens and the earth and holds all things in His hands?
As they get older, Bruce and Chris have learned to care about “less and less” - God is concerned about people - what are your primary concerns? And sometimes you have to “go 30 miles in” before you see it - you have to go deeper.

Walking in the Forgiveness AND Freedom from Sin
Monday Dec 11, 2023
Monday Dec 11, 2023
Guest: John Elmore, Teaching Pastor, Watermark Community Church
John - the idea of sin and struggle is the most requested conversation - people have forgiveness from sin, but not freedom. God wants to redeem, reengineer, and repurpose your past for His purposes and glory!
John - the most used thing in his life to share the gospel is how God redeemed him from his past - your mess can become His message!
How do I get free?
- For the unbeliever, freedom starts with surrendering your life to Christ and accepting the free gift of salvation by grace through faith. Sin is a supernatural problem and demands a supernatural solution!
- Making the commitment by the power of the Holy Spirit to walk in the freedom that Christ earned for you one day at a time. A lifetime of freedom is made up of days of freedom, one after another. Galatians 5:16 - But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.
- Repentance is a continual, ongoing surrender to the Lord. You need to ACT. Ask God daily for help - the Holy Spirit is the “sin killer,” this is the negative work of the Spirit - the Holy Spirit negates bad fruit in your life. Commit to the pursuit of holiness. Daily encouragement is the key to battle against sin in your life - there are no neutral days - you are either moving toward holiness or away from it! Talk/Text about your journey with another person who is standing in the gap praying for you and encouraging you.
John - leaders go first or others may never - if you want to walk in the light and have fellowship with one another, you need to lead others by your example!
John - today is the day of your salvation and freedom from sin. Text a brother in Christ and begin this daily commitment to walking in the forgiveness AND freedom from sin!

Christian Warrior: Be the Hero in Your Home
Monday Dec 04, 2023
Monday Dec 04, 2023
Guest: Cort Quigley
Christianity doesn't make a man soft, it transforms him into the image of Jesus - THE man’s Man, the sinless Man, the Man who laid down His life for the sins of others.
Men - don’t be afraid to seek help - if you see someone who has what you want, do what they did - mentorship/discipleship is about finding men who are walking the walk and learning from them. Godly men help build godly men.
Men - you ARE leaving a legacy - and it’s either a positive one or a negative one - for your work AND your family!
Video games - being the hero in a game isn’t the same as being a hero for those you love!
Comparison is the thief of joy…be careful comparing yourself to others…
Friends are the men that call you to the carpet, expect more from you, want better for you, even than themselves! The only way you can get to the point where you’re willing to help others, even if it costs you, is to be transformed by the power of Jesus who modeled this ideal with His life and can empower you with His grace and love!
Marriage is a 100/0 covenant - you are going to love your wife no matter what…and she covenants to love you no matter what - it’s not a 50/50 agreement where you serve because you’ve been served.
Men - be the guy who cares about the lives of others - but, if you can also meet others where they’re at, if they need a friend who listens, be that friend.
Men - doing hard things is just part of life - if you can do some hard physical things, you can do some hard spiritual things!
Men - great perspective on the “stuff of this world” - if God gives it to you, you’re supposed to use it for His glory - more stuff = more glory for Him - is that your perspective on things?!
Men - it doesn’t matter where you came from, it matters what God thinks of you and where He can take you as you walk in obedience with Him!
